Eco-driving habits for Indian drivers in Europe and the Middle East

Studies have revealed that the influence of the driving style directly falls on CO2 emission and fuel consumption per kilometer. By adopting eco-driving styles, the driver can easily slash their fuel bill and rate of emission by 25 percent in comparison to normal driving behavior. Slight changes in the way you drive can leave a significant impact on the fuel economy.

Eco-driving habits

In a recent survey, when Indian drivers were asked about their driving habits and their knowledge about fuel efficiency, 95% of them claimed that they know about fuel efficiency and don’t leave any stone unturned to achieve this goal. 96% of the people strive to make efforts to save fuel daily. Indian drivers don’t feel afraid to go the extra mile to save money, but to some extent, they jump into the car and start wasting fuel. By introducing Eco-driving habits, one can save money and fuel. These measures will benefit the environment and make our European and Middle Eastern roads safe for everyone.

Here, in this blog, we are listing some tips that can help you to become fuel efficient and greener driver:

  1. Smooth driving: – If a person is following aggressive driving, such as speeding, rapid acceleration, and braking, this can significantly lower the fuel mileage. To overcome this problem, it is recommended to accelerate smoothly, drive in one lane, and brake smoothly, especially when it is safe. These driving skills will not only save fuel but also enhance the life of the tires and brakes of your tires.
  2. Slow down: – speeding wastes lots of fuel. Reducing the speed of your vehicle can improve fuel efficiency by up to 10-15 percent. It is recommended to aim for constant speed. Speed fluctuation pumps more fuel into the engine and empties the tank faster by using cruise control whenever required with the help of the highway to maintain the speed and save fuel.
  3. Remove unnecessary Cargo: – Reduce the amount of Cargo you have loaded in the trunk or back seat of the vehicle; it will improve the efficiency of fuel required for acceleration. You must travel as lightly as possible and carry only emergency items in your vehicle.
  4. No idling: – With these advanced engines, you don’t need to warm them up. You can start your engine immediately and take your vehicle to your destination. Prolong idling of the vehicle only increase fuel wastage and emission. Therefore, adopt eco-driving habits, and turn the engine off whenever the vehicle is stationary for more than 30 seconds. It will avoid the unnecessary energy consumption of the engine.
  5. Use the Air conditioner only on highways: – The fuel economy of the vehicle drops by 15 percent when you use AC at a low speed. That’s why according to eco-driving habits, it is recommended to turn off the AC when it is not too hot; instead, roll down the windows. But if you are driving your vehicle at 90km/hr speed, it is preferred to use AC since the vehicle has much lower wind resistance with closed windows. And since the engine produces so much power, it can run accessories like A/C efficiently.
